The treaty was brought to the cabin of Dr. George Moffitt Patrick in Deer Park after the nearby battle of San Jacinto where Sam Houston's Texas army defeated the Mexican army. It was signed by Mexican President Santa Anna, after he had been captured and his army practically obliterated. A replica of Dr. Patrick's cabin is found in the downtown area and is a fun place to visit when shopping downtown with your friends from your Deer Park apartments. For a day of historic exploring, you can visit the nearby Battle of San Jacinto Historic Site just to the northeast of town. Deer Park sits in the center of numerous significant locations in the San Jacinto Texas Historic District, the fifth largest in Texas.
